Save Our Staff!
09

Nine members of Mar Vista School’s staff have received layoff notices:
Miss Caitlin King, Kindergarten
Mr. Mark Mailander, Kindergarten
Mrs. Carrie Metz, Kindergarten
Miss Michelle Lynch, 3rd Grade
Mrs. Brenda Weinstock, Principal

Mrs. Michelle Ombao, 3rd Grade
Mrs. Nona Fein, 4th Grade
Mrs. Summer Valdes, 5th Grade
Ms. Chris Ahearn, Assistant Principal

Students will lose if we lose them!
Our students cannot afford the loss of our enthusiastic staff who are making a difference in the classroom and our school. Fewer teachers will lead to a dramatic increase in class size, which means students will receive less attention from their teachers.
Please help us save our Mar Vista staff… Tell the District to rescind the layoff notices and protect class size!

Albertsons Community Partners card –
RELINK YOUR CARD TO KEEP OUR PROGRAM

As many families already know, we earn shopping dollars through various local grocery stores by linking our shopper cards to Mar Vista School. http://www.albertsonscp.com/

All you need is your Preferred Savings Card Number and our organization ID. It will only take a minute and will help our school tremendously.

Our Organization ID# is 49000115055

If you do not know your Preferred Savings Card Number,
please call 877-932-7948.

Please re-link your card at the website by F ebruary 28th in order for our school to continue earning shopping dollars. We will not be able to retroactively add your purchases to the school account if you do not re-link by February 28th.

PHON-A-THON
Calling All Pledges!

Help ring in the new school year! The 21st Annual MVSEG Phon-a-Thon

This year, the MVSEG (Mar Vista School Enrichment Group) is challenged to raise $244,810 to fund the enrichment programs that are planned for the year.

These funds support more than 12 programs that are 100% dedicated to enriching our children’s lives.

These programs, which include art, music, computers, science, PE and field trips, provide our children with countless hours of hands-on learning experiences that go above and beyond any textbook.

Without the support of parents and the community, these programs will not happen.

The Phon-a-Thon is a critical part of our annual fundraising and is expected to generate $70,000 of the funds needed.

Check here to see if your company has a Gift Matching Program.

Please help us reach that goal by contributing as generously as you are able. All donations are tax-deductible. Also, be sure to check with grandparents, local businesses and your employer to see if they will match your donation with their own tax-deductible donation. Every dollar makes a difference!

Want to make your donation quickly and easily? You can make an online donation via PayPal or credit card.

If you are interested in volunteering for the Phon-a-Thon, please contact co-chairs Andy Trilling (Andy@Trilling.com)
or Bill Bedecarre (billbed@verizon.net).

Calling all photographers!
The yearbook committee is looking for pictures that capture everyday life at Mar Vista. In particular, we are looking for action pictures that depict everyday events such as classroom lessons and projects,

special awards or presentations, classroom lessons and projects, special awards or presentations, friendships, group class pictures from a field trip, or just the kids doing their thing during recess, lunch or in class free time.Pictures can be submitted digitally via a CD (preferred) or hard copy. Please submit photos to the “yearbook” mailbox in the main office. When submitting printed pictures, please put your name and room number on the back. We’ll return printed pictures to your child’s classroom teacher.

Thanks for your help!
The Yearbook Committee

Winter Show DVD
Look in your child’s backpack for an order form to get your copy of the Winter Show DVD. The deadline to turn in your orders is Tuesday, Jan. 20th. DVDs are $10 each; please make checks payable to MVSEG. Each DVD will include the show along with

hundreds of candid pictures from rehearsals and each of the three shows. Every child that performed in the winter show will be included on the DVD.
